The 26th week of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) will take center stage as from Friday 3 October after league action took a break on the weekend of Saturday 27 – Sunday 28 September to make way for the GOtv Shield quarter final matches which bore surprises of their own.
The first match of the weekend will see title contenders Chemelil Sugar take on Ulinzi Stars in Awasi at the Chemelil Sports Complex on Friday. Ulinzi Stars will be looking to strengthen their stake on the title race in the game after winning their last two matches while the Millers will be looking to rise from their 0 – 2 loss to Gor Mahia in their last match.
On Saturday, four matches are on the cards with a double header at the Nyayo National Stadium the highlight of the day. The first match will see title contender Tusker try to bring to an end a run that has seen them go winless in their last six matches when they take on 2008 champions Mathare United as from 1400hrs.
The second match of the day will see reigning champions Gor Mahia try to extend their leadership of the KPL log when the play as the away team to relegation threatened Nairobi City Stars as from 1615hrs.
In the other matches on Saturday, Muhoroni Youth will be staking another claim to a top half finish when they take on KRA at the Muhoroni Stadium as from 1500hrs while Western Stima will be harboring the same Top 8 ambition when they play host to relegation threatened KCB at the Kisumu County Stadium.
On Sunday, title chasers Sofapaka will be looking to stay in the race when they travel to Awendo to play Sony Sugar who harbor Top 8 ambitions while in Nakuru, AFC Leopards will be looking to build on their great comeback against Tusker when they take on a team staring at relegation, Top Fry AllStars.
The final match of the weekend will see embattled Bandari travel to Thika to face off with Thika United at the Thika County Stadium. Thika United are looking to cement their top half ambitions with a good result from the game while Bandari have relegation fears lingering around the Mombasa club and will be looking to ease them.
