NAIROBI, Kenya- Gor Mahia FC head coach, Dylan Kerr has named his strongest side available that will travel to South Africa for the second leg of their CAF Confederations Cup play-off against SuperSport United FC.
K’Ogalo will face the struggling ABSA Premiership side SuperSport on Wednesday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria carrying a 1-0 lead from the first leg played in Machakos.
Kerr unveiled his squad on Monday afternoon despite reports their trip had been hit by visa hitches at the South African embassy in Nairobi, with the players and technical team scheduled to travel still to obtain the document.
Ugandan international defender, Godfrey Walusimbi is the only notable absentee as Gor aim to punch their ticket to the group stages of the second-tier continental competition where they were relegated to following their CAF Champions League exit.
Kerr named record signing and top scorer Jacques Tuyisenge, Rwandese compatriot, Meddie Kagere, Ivorian Ephrem Guikan and Bernard Omondi as the forwards in his touring party of 20 players.
George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo, Francis Kahata, Kevin Omondi, Lawrence Juma, Bernard Ondiek, Humphrey Mieno, Philemon Otieno and Cercidy Otieno are his options in midfield.
Captain Harun Shakava, Charles Momanyi, Wesley Onguso, Joachim Oluoch and Joash Onyango got the nod in defence with goalkeepers, Boniface Oluoch and his understurdy Shaban Odhonji rounding the travelling team.
Gor sat out Kenyan Premier League action this weekend and are still second on the log on 22 points from eight games, trailing leaders Mathare United FC who have played three more matches by only a point after the slum boys lost to Posta Rangers FC.
On the other hand, SuperSport, are struggling to hold on to their top flight status following their 0-0 draw against Cape Town City FC that left them 14th on 28 points in the 16 team log.
Matsatsantsa are only a point above Platinum Stars FC who sit 15th and the promotion/relegation slot of the ABSA Premiership.
