NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenya Cup defending champions, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) RFC, are out for a revenge against Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC as the rugby top tier league resumes at Ruaraka Sports Club in Nairobi on Saturday.

KCB head coach, Curtis Olago, said he will leave no stones unturned in the clash that is expected to separate the two rivals that are currently perched at the top with 20 points apiece.

“We lost to Homeboyz 33-24 last season, it was painful. We don’t want to experience the same this year. We have done everything possible to prepare well for the match,” Olago told SportPesa News.

“We had the fixtures early enough so we knew our opening match for the year would not be a walk in the park.

“We used part of the three-week Christmas break to step up our training, we are focused to defend this trophy at all costs,” Olago said.

Olago indicated the match is a do or die affair since the winner will have all the bragging rights of commanding the log standings after the weekend outings.

Unbeaten record

Olago is also happy with the return of former Kenya Shujaa captain and prolific winger, Andrew Amonde, who has been out for a protracted period due to an ankle injury.

While describing this epic match that will be broadcast live on various media platforms, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) stated in its official website: “The two sides have registered bonus point wins in each of their four outings to date, but something will have to give on Saturday.

“Either the unbeaten record or a halt to each side’s winning streak if they do play out a stalemate,” they stated.

Kabras Sugar RFC are equally unbeaten after winning their opening four matches, they however sit third on the log, one point adrift and will certainly look to reap from the spoils of war at Ruaraka when they host fourth placed SportPesa Quins RFC at the Kakamega Showground.

While Quins have been poor travelers to Kakamega, they come into this encounter with a spring in their step, having recovered from that narrow 39-41 match day one loss to Homeboyz to post three wins on the trot.

Fifth placed Resolution Impala Saracens RFC host stablemates Resolution Kisii RFC, placed tenth on the log, in a match scheduled to be played at the Impala Club.
