NAIROBI, Kenya- Rugby Sevens talisman, Collins Injera, has made a return to the Kenya Shujaa for the coming fifth and sixth legs of the 2017/2018 HSBC World Sevens series in Las Vegas and Vancouver.

The second all time try scorer at the HSBC Sevens World Series was named in the 13-man travelling squad by head coach, Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu on Wednesday in Nairobi.

Shujaa leave the country on Saturday for Las Vegas where they will return to action in the USA 7s leg on March 2 to 4 before proceeding for Vancouver for the March 10 to 11 Canada 7s.

Injera featured last for Shujaa in December during the opening leg of the series in Dubai where the country finished eighth with 10 points.

“We are glad to have Injera back from a hamstring injury. He has been missed. His return is a great boost to the players especially to the new signings.

“I have taken the team through strength and conditioning and I can confidently say Injera’s form is impressive.

“I gauged the team in training this morning. Everyone is fit and ready to give their best in the contests,” Simiyu told SportPesa News.

Also making a cut is Injera’s Mwamba RFC team mate, Billy Odhiambo, who will make his first appearance of the season after missing the opening four rounds while recovering from a shoulder injury.

Injera and Odhiambo have replaced Brian Tanga of Kabras Sugar RFC and Augustine Lugonzo of Homeboyz RFC who represented Kenya in the third and fourth legs in Sydney and Hamilton.

Target points

Oscar Ouma of Nakuru RFC will captain the team with designated skipper; Oscar Ayodi still out with a nagging knee injury.

Ouma replaced Ayodi, who captained the team in the Dubai and Cape Town legs, in the Sydney and Hamilton legs last month.

Simiyu said his target in USA and Canada is to go past the quarters with focus to rake 13 points which has been his aim in each of the legs in the series.

Shujaa have been grouped in Pool A with Fiji, France and Russia for the USA Sevens in Las Vegas.
