Handball national teams for both men and women earned the first team slots to the 11th edition of the African Games set for Congo, Brazzaville later in September 2015.
In preparation for the continental showpiece, the teams will engage in an international friendly on Saturday May 16th against visiting Seychelles at the Nyayo National Stadium from 2:30 pm.
The Islanders have been in the country for the last three days where they have been having a series of friendly matches with clubs since Wednesday May 13.
Kenya men’s national team coach Peter Mwathi said the friendly match will act as a build up before the continental games.
“This is a very good match for the national team as we prepare for Brazzaville. We are looking at good preparations for us to get good results,” said Mwathi who also manages Strathmore handball team.
In 2011, the men’s team finished in the ninth position, a result Mwathi wants to improve this time round.
The women’s team finished in the sixth place and hopes are high for an improved performance. The performance will come with the inclusion of regional and domestic champions,Nairobi Water Queens players who have earned tremendous experience from club continental championship.
