Bayern Munich’s manager Pep Guardiola is now rooting for Barcelona to win the Champions League treble this season.
Even with his side winning the second Leg 3-2, Bayern Munich were still bundled out of the competition in the semifinal stage last night as Barcelona won the bout with a 5-3 aggregate offshoot.
Bayern remained at the back foot as a result of their first leg 3-0 loss at Camp Nou and though they struggled hard to make a comeback at the Allianz Arena, They needed an impossible 6 goal total to outdo the Catalan giants.
Guardiola complemented his players for their stellar performance throughout the night, and threw his support behind his former side to eventually lift the trophy in Berlin later this month.
I want to congratulate my players – I am happy to be the coach of this team”, Guardiola told UEFA.
“Congratulations also to Barcelona – I hope they will win a fifth European title in Berlin.”
The Bayern Munich boss also stressed that though they have had many issues during the season, he cannot complain about the effort of his players and insisted that they are balked by not making it to the Champions League final.
“We had many problems but my players gave everything this season. Thanks to our fans – I know they have given everything.
“We wanted to get to Berlin, but if we lose like this, I can only compliment my players.”
