KAKAMEGA, Kenya- Gor Mahia FC warmed up nicely for Sunday’s clash against English side, Hull City FC by coming from behind to put down domestic rivals Kakamega Homeboyz FC 3-2 on Wednesday.
The Tigers arrive in Nairobi on Friday and will have been following the progress of the SportPesa Premier League contest at the Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega where a double from Ivorian striker, Ephrem Guikan set Gor up for the win.
K’Ogalo extended their lead at the summit to five points with 30 from 12 games with Ulinzi Stars FC and Mathare United FC who have played two games more and are locked on 25 apiece the closest challengers.
Guikan notched a brace for Gor in the 42nd and 55th minutes before Charles Momanyi grabbed the winner for Briton Dylan Kerr’s side with 10 left of the 90.
Homeboyz (17) who remain 12th on the log, opened the scoring in the 32nd through Ali Ahmed before Guikan turned the contest around for a 1-2 lead for the champions at the break.
Veteran striker, Allan Wanga levelled the contest in the 66th to set up a nervous closing moments for Gor before Momanyi intervened to reward K’Ogalo for their dominant display in the closing stanza.
Kerr will now lead his side against the Tigers on Sunday at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani brimming with confidence with the side he led to the 2017 SPL title and 16th overall in their glittering history yet to lose on home soil this time.
This was the first league match that Gor was playing after their 1-1 2018 CAF Confederation Cup group stage draw against Rayon Sports in Kigali, Rwanda, last Sunday.
