NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) RFC captain, Darwin Mukidza is confident his inclusion the Africa Gold Cup Team of The Season will propel him to further recognition.

The Kenya Simbas player added the award will push him to pursue more glory in the coming season after emerging as the star of the national team’s run to second in the 2017 Africa Gold Cup.

The player, who was instrumental in the triumphant Bankers side that swept the Kenya and Enterprise Cup double last season is also looking forward to a repeat in the forthcoming season.

“I’m delighted to have made the Africa Gold Cup team. It is no mean achievement given the high caliber of players we were up against,” said the player who is joined by Joshua Chisanga as the only two Kenyans in the all-star side.

Mukidza who captained Simbas in Uganda and bagged a hat-trick in the win over Senegal rued their only shortcoming was their defeat in Namibia in the final game of the continental competition.

“Now we have to  regroup ourselves and start planning for the World Cup qualifiers. The Namibia game is well behind us and the only thing for us is to use the valuable lessons from the match to better our game,” Mukidza underscored.

The Africa Gold Cup team of the season was  compiled by rugby journalists from Uganda, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Namibia pipped Simbas to the title as they held on to the trophy for a fourth season running.
