Manchester United have officially confirmed a £25m deal for Memphis Depay – finally bringing an end to the transfer saga. The club revealed the deal will be completed in the summer subject to him completing a medical. He will sign a four year deal with the option for a further year.
“Manchester United has reached agreement with PSV Eindhoven and Memphis Depay for the player’s transfer, subject to a medical, once the transfer window opens in June,” a statement said on United’sofficial site.
United boss Louis van Gaal has long been linked with an attempt to sign the 21-year-old, who was part of his Netherlands World Cup squad in Brazil last summer.
But the PSV hierarchy recently announced that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain were leading the way, with the Red Devils having only lodged a single phone call to check on Depay’s availability.
PSV have previously said that all interested parties know Depay’s asking price and that reaching an agreement with the player is as good as sealing the deal.
