While David De Gea bailed out his team with his awesome saves, Maroune Fellaini scored the winning goal for united which was struggling to come out of three consecutive losses in their previous encounters.
Juan Mata scored the initial goal for United via a penalty kick, only to have Jason Puncheon cancel their early lead. QPR dominated the game, making a second goal for them more than possible; Julian Speroni failed to clear a cross by Ashley Young, giving Fellaini the chance to tap in the game winner.
Manchester United struggled due to injuries on their main men Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney, giving Falcao and Jonny Evans the chance to play. Although Van Gaal’s team managed to win this game, it will be crucial for them to have Rooney back, since Shaw had to be stretchered out before the first half ended.
This outcome gave the Red Devils some room to breathe in their fourth place race against Liverpool.
