Dani Alves will wear No. 23 at Juventus in honor of LeBron James.
Count Brazilian soccer player Dani Alves as yet another athlete inspired by LeBron James.
Alves, who finalized a move from Barcelona to Italian giants Juventus on Tuesday, will wear the No. 23 in honor of the 2016 NBA Finals MVP.
“I’ve picked the No. 23 shirt,” Alves said, via ESPN.com. “LeBron James is someone I admire for the way he constantly reinvents himself and never rests on his laurels, always aiming for new challenges and triumphs.”
James’ decision to leave Miami for Cleveland was Alves’ inspiration for making the move to Italy.
“After leaving Miami, where he was enjoying a good career, he’s come back with a bang and reinvented himself,” Alves said. “It’s a decision that brought about my choice to move to a new country, meet new teammates and experience another type of football.”
How close is LeBron to completely replacing Michael Jordan for younger generations? He’s already taken the No. 23 jersey and he’s long been rumored as the star of the inevitable Space Jam sequel. Next thing you know, people will start using crying LeBron faces for their memes.
