Chelsea could be in line to receive as much as £16,000-a-day if goalscoring sensation Diego Costa picks up an injury whilst on international duty this week.
Jose Mourinho has so far been reluctant for the Spanish international to join up the national squad, with Costa struggling with a reoccurring hamstring problem.
The former Atletico forward has been prevented from playing three times a week by the injury, and will land his side a daily sum if he injures himself again.
The Express have reported that Chelsea will receive a fee of £16,000 per day should Costa suffer a long-term injury, with the amount being set in stone by Fifa’s Club Protection Programme.
Mourinho’s side will receive the fee should the Premier League’s top goalscorer miss more than 28 days or longer.
The striker recently insisted that he is fit and ready to play, and that he is desperate to be successful with the national team after their World Cup heartbreak.
If Chelsea were to lose Costa to injury, I am sure they would be content that the fee received wouldn’t even cover his daily wage whilst he was sidelined
