CAPE TOWN, South Africa- Cape Town City FC have won the race to sign ex-Inter Milan and West Ham United FC striker, Victor Obinna.
The Premier Soccer League side were reported to have been in competition with South Africa giant, Orlando Pirates FC to bring the forward to the country as a free agent.
“Cape Town City FC is excited to announce the signing of former @Inter and @WestHamUtd striker Victor Obinna!” the Citizens tweeted on Tuesday night after completing the transfer coup.
The 30-year-old left German outfit Darmstadt 98 last season after making two appearances and besides Inter and West Ham, Obinna has played for Chievo (Serie A/Italy), Malaga (Spain) and Russian titans Lokomotiv Moskow.
Obinna has earned 46 caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and he is Cape Town City’s first marquee capture since they signed a title-partnership with leading bookmakers SportPesa.
