Cameroon have two wins out of two games played in Group D, after losing all three of their games at the World Cup in Brazil, and they are now well positioned to reach the finals that begin in January in Morocco.
Cameroon strikers Vincent Aboubakar and Clinton Njie both hit two goals to easily defeat Ivory Coast, who had beaten Sierra Leone 2-1 on Saturday night.
Manchester City’s Yaya Toure scored Ivory Coast’s only goal when he hit the equalizer by the 24th minute.
Cheick Tiote played the full game for Ivory Coast for the second time in five days, and it’s kind of strange that he hadn’t played one minute of competitive football for Newcastle this season, before the International break, and then plays two full games for his country.
Cheick seems to have come through the game uninjured, but whether he can play another full game for Newcastle at Southampton on Saturday is doubtful.
That would be his third game in eight days, having not played any competitive games this season until last Saturday.
The good news is that he seems to have come through the game fit and well.
