Mario Balotelli could be in line for a return to the Etihad Stadium on Monday evening.
The controversial Italian striker is expected to finalise his move to Liverpool prior to his new club’s Premier League meeting with City.
And, according to reports, he could make the trip over to Manchester to watch Brendan Rodgers’ side take on his former club.
The Italy forward will be unable to play, though, with the Anfield outfit having failed to complete his registration before the league’s Friday 12pm deadline.
Balotelli enjoyed a memorable two-and-a-half-year stay at City.
He scored 30 goals in 80 appearances for the Blues and set up Sergio Aguero’s famous 2011-12 title-winning goal against QPR.
However, the 24-year-old’s time at the club was also marred by several controversies as he regularly clashed with manager Roberto Mancini and picked up headlines for the wrong reasons.
