Arsenal morning news: Wenger escapes punishment, Szczesny’s message for rivals.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger won’t be punished for the confrontation between himself and Jose Mourinho last weekend.Wenger pushed Mourinho, claiming he was confronted by the Portuguese coach after the game. The referee is deemed to have dealt with the matter at the time by warning both coaches.
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says the Gunners will improve.
Arsenal have been inconsistent over the first half of the season with solid wins mixed in with disappointing defeats.
“We have had a tough run so far. But I would like to think that our start has been solid. It’s not as good as we expected from ourselves. But I believe that after the international break, we can push on and get more points,” said the Pole.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has suggested that Arsene Wenger doesn’t trust Mesut Ozil in big games.
Wenger has used Ozil in wide positions in recent big matches for the club, which has left fans asking why he’s not in the number ten role.
“Everyone knows he’s better there [playing centrally] but last season wasn’t good in there. Obvious Wenger doesn’t trust him central in big games,” said Carragher on Twitter.
