Arsenal are preparing a late move for Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo as they look to boost their defensive options before the window shuts, according to reports.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is light in defensive midfield and has been looking at a range of options with the former Bayern Munich star top of his wish-list.
The Mirror says Arsenal scouts were impressed by his showing for Wolfsburg against Bayern Munich and will now look to ramp up their pursuit.
A deal could could be smoothed by the fact Wolfsburg are keen on Lukas Podolski, who now looks set to leave the Emirates this summer after falling down the striking pecking order after Olivier Giroud, Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo.
Juventus are said to be leading the chase for the German, but reports in Italy today suggest a move could collapse with the Turin side only wanting to sign Podolski on a season-long loan.
