Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger Hits Out At Media Lies Over Gunners Star’s Future.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hit out at the media for inventing transfer rumours involving Gunners forward Lukas Podolski, according to Goal.com.

There has been much speculation recently that the experienced German international could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium this January after falling out of favour with Wenger in the starting lineup this season.

New signings Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck have kept Podolski on the bench for much of the season, but Wenger insists there is no truth to the rumours that he is ready to let the player go this winter.

Despite not using the 29-year-old much so far, the Frenchman insists that he remains part of his plans and that there are not currently any clubs in for him, even if various teams have been linked as possible suitors for his signature.

Wenger seemed angered by these rumours, saying that the papers have been fabricating stories and that there is no truth to anything surrounding the doubt over Podolski’s Arsenal future.

“He plays a position where there is a big competition. He came very late from his holidays [in the summer]. He started after his team-mates and was not good physically,” he said.

“It’s not established at all that he will leave at Christmas. He is not for sale and there is no offer.

“Today’s newspapers have an advantage. They know more than us. But the story is completely fabricated.”

Podolski joined Arsenal from Cologne in the summer of 2012, and has gone on to score 29 goals in 75 appearances for the north London giants, helping them to an FA Cup win last season.
