All players that join AFC Leopards youth teams will do so by merit, according to the club’s youth development programme boss Jan Koops.
Koops says that at the right time, they will organize trials for young players, noting that they do not take in players on the recommendation of outsiders.
“Our trials will be publicly announced and we will only take the players that qualify to be in the team. Our coaches can from time to time identify players they would like to have on the team but no one outside the technical bench can impose a player on the team,” he said.
The Leopards’ U20 team made it to the triennial Sportpesa Premier League U20 tournament, before losing to defending champions Mathare United.
The Cubs, as the club’s junior teams are popularly known are currently training for their participation in the ongoing Kidero Cup, a Nairobi tournament.
