The planned friendly match between Ulinzi Stars and Muhoroni Youth will take place on Thursday 12 January at the Afraha Stadium starting 11am.
The club’s head coach Benjamin Nyangweso says he
“The first two weeks have all been about fitness and the coach has really worked on that. The boys are now getting into some ball work and the friendly against Muhoroni will help take this a notch higher,” team Officer in Charge Captain Godwine Baraza told the club’s official website.
“This is the first of many friendly matches we are going to play and next week we will put out plans for more intensive training. Definitely we will have to go for a camp somewhere for concentration and team building.”
Ulinzi Stars resumed training on Wednesday last week after a two-week break following the end of the 2016 season.
The club isrepresenting the country in the CAF Confederations Cup following their runners up finish in the GoTV Shield, with winners Tusker voting to play in the CAF Champions after winning the league.
The Kenyan side will play Hilal Benghazi in a two-leg preliminary fixture, that starts in Libya on the weekend of February 10-12 before a return leg in Nairobi two weeks later.
The winner from the Ulinzi-Benghazi matches, will meet Egyptian side Smouha in the first round from which the aggregate winner will progress to the group stage, which now has 16 teams.
