Western Stima chairman Laban Jobita has laughed off reports that his team may be considering a swap deal with Gor Mahia at the end of the season that would see his team’s midfielder Kenneth Muguna cross over to the Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) champions.
Baron Oketch, who has been tipped for a return to Western Stima after a difficult time at Gor Mahia is apparently the man being dangled around as bait and while Jobita says Oketch may still be welcome at the club, he has ruled out using him as part of a swap deal.
Jobita has already declared he will not stand in the way of a deal for Muguna should the right offers come through but he adds that any business on the midfielder will not involve swap deals.
“Muguna still has a contract with us and like I have said before, we will not deny him a move he wants. However, any such deal will not be part of a swap deal. That is one thing that should come out very clearly.
“Yes, we may want to have Baron back but we will handle Muguna’s case differently first before we talk about Baron. That is our stand even though no official request has come,” he said.
A creative midfielder who can also play as a number 10, Muguna has been instrumental in Western Stima’s 2016 league run, scoring four goals to help the team sit third on the league standings.
