Kenya’s Under 17 National Team kept their Cosafa semifinal semi finals hopes alive after rallying from behind to pip Madagascar 2-1 in their Group B match played at the Stade St Francois Xavier in Port Louis in Mauritius.
Madagascar’s Fabrizio Mosa scored from the spot for Kenya to trail 1-0 in the 20th minute.
Five minutes later, Kenneth Mukuria scored the leveler before converting from a penalty to score the winner in the 41stminute.
The win revives Kenya’s hopes after being drubbed 4-0 by the defending champions Zambia in their opening match.
Defending champions Zambia top group B standings with six points with Malawi staying second in Group B on 3 points despite the loss following their 2-1 victory over Madagascar last Friday.
Zambia have advanced to the 2016 Cosafa Under-17 Cup semifinals after thrashed arch-rivals Malawi in their penultimate Group B match.
The Young Chipolopolo blanked Malawi 3-0 to maintain their 100 percent start at the ongoing tournament.
Goals from striker Damiano Kola, defender Benjamin Phiri and Zambia’s top scorer Nicholas Mulilo in the 6th, 14th and 74th minutes respectively saw Young Chipolopolo pick up maximum six points from their opening two Group B matches.
Kola scored his second of the tournament while Mulilo netted his third after they both found the target in Friday’s 4-0 demolition of Kenya.
Kenya play Malawi in a match that will decide their fate on Tuesday afternoon.
