The 2016-17 Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) national league will kick off this weekend with eight matches on the cards at the Nyayo National Stadium handball court.
On Saturday, three-time women champions Nairobi Water will start their season campaign against Mount Kenya University (MKU) Eldoret Campus in the season opener before newbies Rangers take on Ulinzi Youth the men’s competition.
MKU Eldoret men’s team will play against two-time local champions Ulinzi in another match while Rangers will play their second match against the 2012 champions Black Mamba in the last match of the day
On Sunday, Ulinzi women’s handball team will entertain Mount Kenya University (MKU) Eldoret in the day’s opening match before paving way for the MKU Eldoret men’s encounter against Boomerang.
Newbies Rangers will play their third league match of the weekend against reigning champions National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in another encounter.
Starthmore coach Peter Mwathi says he wants to start the season on high and seeking for an improved performance from the previous season.
“This will be a very important match for my boys as we look to improve on our performance from last season. As a team, we were able to win a trophy during the Kenya Universities national playoffs and this will go a long way in motivation my players to get positive results this season, it will not be easy but we have prepared well for any challenge,” he said.
