Barcelona superstar Neymar is reportedly in the sights of Real Madrid, with the La Liga heavyweights set to engage in a bidding war for the Brazilian attacker.
According to a report in Spanish newspaper AS, Madrid are preparing to launch an incredible bid to sign Neymar from bitter rivals Barcelona.
It states that Madrid are happy to raise Neymar’s salary significantly. It’s believed that Neymar currently earns a yearly salary of €15 million (£10.5m) with Barcelona.
Despite the rumours, the 23-year-old recently spoke to TV3 about wanting to remain at Barcelona.
“I still have some years left on my contract,” Neymar said. “I know my father speaks about my future. We are talking about extending the contract, because that is what I want to do.”
Neymar has been on fire for Barcelona this season, scoring 16 goals in 17 games in all competitions. He leads the La Liga goalscoring charts and has been a pivotal player in leading Barca to the top of the table this season.
