Former Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon has admitted to the press that the Spanish giants are keen to bring Jose Mourinho back to the club if he is sacked by Roman Abramovich at Chelsea.
The Mirror reports an interview given by Calderon to Spanish TV in which he makes the claim that current Madrid boss Rafael Benitez was current president Florentino Perez’s fourth choice to take over from Carlo Ancelotti in the summer, and that he even tried to persuade Mourinho to leave the Premier League champions and return to the Bernabeu over the summer.
Joachim Loew and Jurgen Klopp were the other two names on the list ahead of Benitez, according to Calderon.
The former President also hinted at another Madrid swoop for a current Chelsea star, as he claims that Los Blancos are interested in bringing Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu, too.
Calderon said: “They are looking at him and, as far as I know, he has not said no. We will wait and see.”
